What Does Move-In Day Look Like for a Student Who is Living Off-Campus for the First Time?
/1. Prepare in Advance:
Make sure you have completed all necessary paperwork and coordinate with us to confirm the move-in date and any specific instructions/requests.
2. Gathering Essentials:
Ensure you have all the necessary essentials for your new apartment. This includes bedding, kitchenware, toiletries, cleaning supplies, decorations, and any personal items. Making a list prior to leaving is the most organized way to make sure you have everything that you need. Packing in advance helps to alleviate the stress of this process.
3. Arranging Transport:
Some tenants may need a moving truck if you plan to move furniture, or a car or two to fit all your belongings. Enlisting the help of friends or family can help when packing and unpacking.
4. Unpacking and Organizing:
For this process to move smoothly – it is best to begin with essential items such as bedding, kitchen items, and bathroom supplies. Decorating should be done last so that all your furniture is in the proper placement to match your décor.
5. Inspecting the Apartment:
Take the time to inspect the apartment thoroughly. Check for any damage or issues that should be immediately reported to us. During the move-out process from the previous tenants, we do a thorough job of inspecting our homes and apartments, but in the instance we miss something we want to tend to the issue as soon as possible.
6. Familiarizing yourself with Nearby Facilities:
Take a walk or a drive around the neighborhood to familiarize yourself with local enmities, such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and public transportation. Many of our rentals are located near university bus stops for easy access to Binghamton’s campuses.
Remember, moving into your first off-campus apartment may lead to minor mistakes and issues. Stay organized, be patient, and don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy the journey of making your new apartment feel like home!
